Cell Phone Radiation Protection - Voodoo or Real Science
According to RF Safe, there are a growing number of products coming onto the market that make statements which claim to offer protection from mobile phone radiation/emissions and simply do not work.
It's been over a decade ago that RF Safe Founder, John Coates first gained the support of Good Housekeeping Magazine in an effort to stop companies from making false claims about certain kinds of so-called shielding products ability to provide protection from cell phone radiation.
With so many different cell phone radiation shielding products to choose from, it can be confusing trying to understand which ones really work and how to use a cell phone as safe as possible.
Coates said;"It's a jungle out there. The dividing line between truth, fiction, what will protect you, and what won't has never been less clearly defined. Since the advent of the digital information explosion, the sea of information has been growing at a pace that few can follow. However, if we are to be responsible and seek the truth, we must persevere. RF Safe is dedicated to the truth and providing only the best RF safety solutions .
RF Safe touts a line of cell phone safety accessories that no cell phone user should be without. All the safety accessories sold by RF Safe work on scientifically proven technologies commonly used for shielding or reducing microwave radiation exposure.
Not all companies can be held to such high standards, like those still selling the same products that the FTC went after over 10 years ago. On February 20, 2002 - the FTC took action, File Number: 012-3098 Civil Action Number: 02-CV-80131 Federal Court: Southern District of Florida http://www.ftc.gov/sites/default/files/documents/cases/2002/02/sv1cmp.pdf
The companies named in the FTC's complaint are Stock Value 1 Inc., of Boca Raton, Fla., and Comstar Communications Inc., of West Sacramento, Calif. In the complaints, filed in Florida and California, the government said it wants to shut down the companies and have them give refunds to customers.
Both companies advertised through television, radio, print ads and the Internet, making false claims about scientific proof backing their products, the FTC said.
The Stock Value 1 promoted products called "SafeTShield" and "NoDanger," both metallic fiber patches for placement over cellular and cordless telephone earpieces, the FTC said. Comstar described its "WaveShield 1000" product as about the size of a penny and able to block "radiation entering the soft tissue of the ear canal."
RF Safe is running this press release today simply because these very same products are on the market again offering people a false sense of protection. It's RF Safe intention to bring attention to media and the FTC that consumers are being put in harm’s way again.
A quick Google search for "Waveshield 1000" returns 24,000 results. https://www.google.com/search?q=waveshield+1000 Many popular sites like eBay and Amazon both profit from selling products that the FTC has already said made false claims of providing protection from cell phone radiation.
Consumers must beware, as major online retailers are selling cell phone radiation shields allowing their venders to make false claims. Consumers need to research how to best shield cell phone radiation exposure, and deal directly with the company behind trusted safety products - not third party vender sites selling products that don't provide radiation protection, while making claims they do.
RF Safe is the first to say that there is no magic safety accessory which protects you completely from cell phone radiation. RF Safe reminds consumers that to truly maximize their safety when using a cell phone, users must adopt the safest phone habits along with using RF Safe approve cell phone radiation safety accessories.

Mary E. Power Named President and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus
The Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB) has named Mary E. Power, CAE, as its new President and CEO. Power began her duties on December 31, following a year-long search conducted by executive recruiter Korn-Ferry and a search committee appointed by the CBBB board of directors.
“Mary has a strong background in association management, but she came from the corporate world,” noted CBBB board chair Sharon Abrams, Vice President & General Counsel, North America at Procter & Gamble, “so she has an excellent understanding of the balance that BBB maintains serving both businesses and consumers. We are confident that Mary is the right leader to help us build on the positive changes and forward momentum we are currently experiencing as we launch our second century of service.”
Power is the chief executive and national spokesperson for CBBB, a 501(c)6 organization that serves as the umbrella for the Better Business Bureau system. This includes national offices in Arlington, Virginia, and New York City, and 113 local, independent BBBs across the U.S. and Canada. The Council has a budget of about $20 million and a staff of 115; adding all the local BBBs together puts the organization at just over $200 million with about 2,100 employees. The Council also has two 501(c)3 entities: BBB Wise Giving Alliance and BBB Institute for Marketplace Trust. Since 1912, BBB has helped consumers and businesses trust each other. The organization’s Standards for Trust set the tone for a wide range of industry self-regulation initiatives, including truth-in-advertising and dispute resolution programs.
Power is both a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and a Fellow with the American Society of Association Executives (FASAE), as well as a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) with the Convention Industry Council. She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in hospitality business, and worked for more than 20 years for two major hotel chains – Sheraton and Intercontinental. She has also served on the boards of several professional organizations.
In 2001, she left the corporate world to become president and CEO of the Convention Industry Council, a federation of 34 associations serving the hospitality industry. There she significantly expanded the Certified Meeting Planner Certification program. When she took over CIC, there were 2,000 Certified Meeting Planners in three countries; six years later there were more than 12,000 CMPs in 33 countries. She also created a “best practices” discipline for the profession, and raised $2.3 million to fund it.
In 2007, Power became executive director of the HR Certification Institute, an association with 126,000 certificate holders and a $16 million budget, where she was known as a driver for growth and professional standards. Under her leadership, HRCI increased certifications by 15% and increased the recertification rate from 60% to 88%. She launched two new global certifications in 49 countries, expanded the overall certification program to 100 countries, updated training programs, and cultivated a strategic partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management and other national and international HR associations.
Power has received numerous awards and accolades, including “Outstanding Female Executive of the Year” by the American Society of Association Executives, “Hall of Leaders” by the Michigan State University School of Hospitality Business, and one of the “Top Five Outstanding Women Industry Executives” by the New York Society of Association Executives. She was also named one of the “25 Most Influential People in the Meeting Industry” by Meeting News Magazine and one of the “Most Influential Women in the Meetings Industry” by Tradeshow Week Magazine. She was also featured in the book “Getting Innovation Right: How Leaders Leverage Inflection Points to Drive Results” by Seth Kahan.
For more than 100 years, Better Business Bureau has been helping consumers find businesses, brands and charities they can trust. In 2012, consumers turned to BBB 124 million times for Business Reviews on more than 4.5 million companies and Charity Reports on 11,000 charities, all available for free at bbb.org. The Council of Better Business Bureaus is the umbrella organization for 113 local, independent BBBs across the United States and Canada, as well as home to its national programs on dispute resolution and industry self-regulation.

The Bell Law Firm Filing Class Action Complaints on Behalf of West Virginia Contaminated Water Victi
The Bell Law Firm, PLLC filed class action complaints today on behalf of West Virginians that have been affected by a chemical leak in the Elk River causing a state of emergency in nine counties yesterday. Up to 300,000 residents, business owners and medical facilities are estimated to be affected by contamination at the West Virginia American Water Company, as reported this afternoon by NBC News.
According to NBC’s report, yesterday morning as much as 5,000 gallons of 4-methylcyclohexane methanol, a chemical used in coal processing, leaked from Freedom Industries’ Charleston facility into the Elk River and contaminated the supply of the nearby West Virginia American Water Company. This led to Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin declaring a state of emergency in Kanawha, Cabell, Putnam, Lincoln, Boone, Logan, Clay, Roane and Jackson Counties yesterday evening which restricted use of water to flushing toilets and tending to fire emergencies, according to a Jan. 9 report in the Charleston Gazette.
Harry F. Bell, Jr., managing partner of The Bell Law Firm, PLLC, said, "I applaud the fast actions of the EPA and FEMA in responding to Gov. Tomblin's call for help. This shows how important and critical these agencies are in protecting the public.”
Mr. Bell has already filed two class action complaints on behalf of plaintiffs today, according to documents filed in the Circuit Court of Kanawha County, West Virginia. The complaints were filed on behalf of Susan Dyer (Civil Action No. 14-C-53) and Kanawha Gourmet Sandwiches, LLC (Civil Action No. 14-C-55) respectively, against Freedom Industries and West Virginia-American Water Company.
"My preliminary discussions last night were with knowledgeable individuals, including a chemical engineer and a highly placed medical doctor - both expressed strong concerns about what has transpired,” Mr. Bell said of his investigations leading him to file the complaints.
Affected residents are being asked not to use the water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, bathing, or for any other purposes than flushing or tending to a fire emergency. Those interested in filing a class action complaint can contact The Bell Law Firm by calling toll-free 1-800-342-1701, emailing hfbell (at) belllaw (dot) com or by visiting belllaw.com.

U.S. Security Associates Adds to Technology Portfolio with Advanced Access Control Systems
U.S. Security Associates (USA) announces the addition of two new systems to the company’s line of proprietary technology solutions. In order to provide communities with innovative and efficient web-based security solutions, USA introduces Gate Pass+ and Park+.
Gate Pass+ enables residential communities and commercial facilities to easily implement and manage a visitor revenue collection and accounting system. The system can be set up to allow some visitor types, like homeowners and their guests, to enter without fees, while requiring other visitor types, such as contractors, to pay fees to be admitted. Fees can also be set to vary by specified criteria within a visitor type. For instance, higher fees might apply for contractors who drive heavier vehicles that produce more wear and tear on the roads. Entry and exit points are monitored by security officers, who collect fees before granting access. Gate Pass+ records transaction details for all site visitors and generates accurate reports enabling site management to compare fees charged to revenue collected.
Park+ provides a simple solution to managing parking and toll fees for parking facilities, shopping centers, roadways, ferries, and other applications. Through an easy user interface, administrators enter parking or toll fees into the Park+ system, based on flat rates, duration or other standards. Administrators can also enter credit for on-site purchases or other discount criteria such as restaurant or entertainment receipts. Drivers collect a Park+ parking pass when entering. Upon exit, the security officer scans the pass and enters any reward credits offered. Park+ then automatically calculates the fee due. System administrators can easily generate reports by shift, personnel, time period or other system data.
Gate Pass+ and Park+ are the products of months of research and development, brought to market by industry-leading technology providers as an answer to the growing need for continuity and accountability in access control systems. The visitor management systems are valuable additions to USA’s collection of technology tools designed to optimize productivity, accountability, and quality.
