Mobile Fun set for further expansion with launch of new distribution arm

BIRMINGHAM-based mobile phone accessories retailer, Mobile Fun, is to continue with its expansion by establishing its own mobile accessories distribution division.

The new division, set to be launched in early 2014, is also paving the way for a number of new jobs.

The company is currently recruiting for a Head of Mobile Accessories Distribution to develop the channel strategy and lead the distribution team. It is also hiring a sales executive, product developer and marketing executive.

Mohammed Hussain, managing director of Mobile Fun, said: “Moving into distribution is a key part of our growth strategy. We receive regular approaches from retailers and dealers asking us to help them with their accessories proposition because they recognise our expertise in the e-commerce and mobile sectors, the strength of our product proposition, and the high value of the Mobile Fun brand.”

The business has expanded rapidly and now generates more than three million monthly visits and attracts over 60,000 customer-written product reviews on its various websites.

Hussain added: “Our websites are regarded as a benchmark for retailers and distributors within the mobile industry. Through our new distribution business, retailers will have access to a product range that reflects the expertise Mobile Fun has built up through its close relationships with consumers. They will also benefit from a supply chain and logistics operation that ensures the fast time to market.”  

Mobile Fun already stocks more than 7,000 accessories for mobiles and tablets for its B2C online retail business. The new distribution business will draw on existing product and market expertise to launch up-and-coming brands from Mobile Fun’s vast network of suppliers and manufacturers, and will also promote the company’s innovative own-brand products.

While the UK market presents the most immediate opportunity, Mobile Fun is also looking to supply international customers and its global supplier base. The firm already has local offices in six countries and a portfolio of multi-lingual websites.

It said new customers would benefit from its strong relationships with over 170 active global suppliers.  

Earlier this year the company announced record turnover and profits, with retail sales of £11.5m.
